Chuck Berry, legend who formed the bedrock of rock ’n’ roll, dies at 90
Chuck Berry was the father of rock-and-roll… period. He influenced millions of musicians including myself.
He was a great influence on me as a guitar player. I don’t think rock-and-roll will have started the way it did without him. Even most of my favorite guitarists like Rory Gallagher, Ace Frehley, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, etc, will not have sounded the way we know them today. He will be greatly missed. 😥
I learned how to play Johnny B. Goode from the Jimi Hendrix Plays Berkeley film. After that I started learning and buying many of Berry’s songs and albums.
You can see some Chuck Berry moves and playing style on this Jimi Hendrix video. 🙂
Chuck Berry 1926 – 2017 R.I.P. 😦
That he is gone leaves us with nothing but sadness. If anyone deserved a longer life, it was he. He was the Greatest. With his death we lose that best living example of what we, as a nation, so des…

My attention growing up was on music and playing the guitar and not really into sports like most of my friends. But Ali was one of those people you knew no matter what you were into or doing. 😐
I remember watching one of his last fights with Larry Holmes with my father, and witnessing the end of an incredible boxing career from a great man. 😮

We have lost two great music legends that influence generations of people and musicians. 😦
The British musician David Bowie died after an 18-month battle with cancer, two days after his 69th birthday.
David Bowie had a unique and special way of making music. He was like a chameleon, every album was different from the one before. He really was into visual and music experimentation. In every album he had a different face. 😎
I used to play Ziggy Stardust with my band back in the 90s. But my favorite Bowie song always been Space Oddity. 😀

Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, founding member and singer in the British heavy metal band Motörhead, died at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer.
Lemmy Kilmister was Lemmy! 😉 A bad-ass metal in your face icon. His music was an influence to me. He had a fast and heavy sound that also influence many other bands. I used to jam on Ace Of Spades back in the day! 😎
I saw Motörhead, Dio, and Iron Maiden on tour at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in 2003, and Lemmy was awesome on stage!

I really love this version of Space Oddity by astronaut Chris Hadfield and his great YouTube page. ❗
The attacks on Paris were shocking all around the world. 😦
Here in the USA some people are starting to blame the Muslim community without a single thought or understanding that these attacks were made by terrorist. 🙄
I never understood why some people are so quick to judge other groups of people or countries base on the actions of some, or their governments.
My thoughts and good wishes goes out to the French people after this horrible tragedy. 😦
Volkswagen rocked by emissions scandal as prosecutors come calling.
This is a big black eye to the Volkswagen diesel lineup. 😯 But, I don’t think VW is the only car company doing things like this. 🙄
I remember reading an article a couple of years ago about another car company cheating the emissions by swapping engines on their vehicles.
Nevertheless, Volkswagen should have caught the people involved in this scandal and issue a recall, before some third-party organization have discovered. 😡
I currently own a gas engine Volkswagen, and I have never had problems with any of the VW I had own in the past. I never had a diesel car engine, though. But this news will not affect, or stop me from buying another VW in the future. 😈
It’s Not Just VW: A Robust Market For Reprogramming Vehicles
As pointed out by Klaus
, emission cheating it’s been going on for a long time. 😐
1970s, USA — Chris Squire Playing the Bass — Image by © Neal Preston/CORBIS
Chris Squire was one of the founding members of the band YES. I am really shocked to hear the news about his death. 😯 This was really unexpected. Just last week, I was just watching an interview about his gear on YouTube. 😦
Chris was a unique bass player and vocalist. He shared vocal harmonies with Jon Anderson and had great chemistry singing. He will be missed. 😦
I can’t believe all my favorite musicians and heroes are passing away so soon. 😥 I guess we as fans expect them to live forever.
YES is one of those progressive bands that influenced me greatly. Steve Howe is one of my many heroes in the guitar.
One of my favorite Squire’s songs is Heart Of The Sunrise
Also from his solo album Hold out Your Hand/You by My Side

Finally!! 😎 The USA is starting the 21st century the right way!
LGBT people deserve the same rights as me and my wife. I never saw what good will bring to have some people in our society been treated different from others. 🙄
I know there is too much bigotry in this country to accept this decision, but this is a monumental step in the right direction. 🙂
I saw this coming. 😦 News of him been sick were all around the net these past weeks. 😦
B.B. King was a great influence on me. He was a very melodic soulful blues player. He had a very unique way to bend his guitar strings and put great feeling in his notes. I used to spend hours learning and listening to his music, and breaking my guitar strings. 😉
El Chapulin Colorado (The Crimson Grasshopper)
Chespirito was a great comedian with a very special way to connect to children. My favorite of his many characters was El Chapulín Colorado. But his most famous and well-known was El Chavo Del Ocho.
From all the way back to the 70s, his comedy show TV re-runs can still be seen in all over Latin America and the US.

Great guitar tribute by Eric Clapton. 😎
Jack Bruce was a great musician. 😦 Jack, along with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker were members of one of my favorite bands growing up. I remember playing Cream and the Experience every time I tuned my guitar for a gig.
